Hello. My name is Arif Surmen, President of QDI, the premier supplier of the highest quality stone and tile to the U.S. wholesale market. This is my first blog posting, and I want to introduce myself to you and let you know why QDI is starting to blog.
The underlying cornerstones of QDI’s strategy are to supply high-quality stone and tile in a timely, professional manner, at the best price and with the best service. Part of that can be accomplished with open communication between QDI and its customers. We have knowledge to impart, and readers have feedback to give. By opening the lines of communication through this blog, we can improve our performance and deliver more of what you need.
Professionals who serve the building industry face similar challenges, and one of the purposes of this blog is to provide you with a window to air your thoughts on what is most important in the process of making recommendations or buying decisions. Talking about how to judge “quality and affordability,” best practices for installation procedures and how to solve issues in different markets will all be subjects of their own blog postings, and you are invited to provide your feedback via comments.
We aren’t putting this blog up to “hear ourselves speak” as the saying goes; we really invite you to participate and share ideas and commentary with us. To that end, in addition to this blog we have engaged BDS, Inc., a highly specialized business development consultancy firm, to enhance our Web presence. BDS will create a separate, independent professional forum where industry issues, direction and solutions will be discussed. This independent forum will ensure that an unbiased environment can surface and respond to the interests and demands of the professional market. When that forum launches, I will write about it in the QDI blog and we will send invitations to key industry leaders to participate.
